CUCK is an entertaining, intimate and intensely raw dance piece about power, relationships and crossed boundaries. It explores the human condition at its most fragile.  On the back of #metoo and in a society where abuses of power are coming to the fore, this multi-layered work raises questions of the political ego and the erosion of basic human decency.

CUCK was created as part of Tinderbox’s Ignition: a-show-in-a-week. Award-winning writer Abbie Spallen provided the provocation ‘CUCK’ on Monday morning. Funding by Arts Council Northern Ireland.

Catalyst is a much-needed platform to showcase the high-quality and exciting work produced by Individual Dance Artists who have received support from the Arts Council Northern Ireland through their Support the Individual Artist Programme: including the Artist Career Enhancement Scheme, General Award and Major Individual Award.

Dance Resource Base alongside Catalyst curator Eileen McClory has designed this one-day event that will provide the essential opportunity for choreographers to showcase their work in a professional capacity.  These new dance works have been created to inspire creativity amongst Northern Ireland and further afield.

Other performances include Gary Rowntree's Togetherness and Ayesha Mailey’s See Me Disappear. There will also be a sharing of raw materials that have been selected from emerging dance artists who are working on a new piece in order to apply for scratch works in the future.

To conclude the day there will be an On The Floor discussion concerning how a dance artist makes a work and what It takes to make it a success.

Without Catalyst, it is difficult to see how our local dance makers and performers can develop and exhibit their own voice and create works of excellence in the future to be appreciated and valued by its much loved audiences.
