Togetherness was initially created in 2019 in response to the political climate in Northern Ireland regarding marriage equality. Two men dance, their hands grasp as they absorb the weight of the onlookers’ scrutiny. Witness their intimacy, vulnerability and turmoil as they journey to stand together.
The original research & development process was made possible with the financial support of an ACES Award from The Arts Council of Northern Ireland with thanks to Gilly Campbell. Additional support was provided by Nicola and Sandy from Maiden Voyage Dance and Rebecca and the team at the Crescent Arts Centre
Groups of 10+ can avail of Day Pass discount at £15.00. Please contact the Lyric Theatre Box Office at 028 9038 1081 to avail of discount and complete transaction.
Catalyst is a much-needed platform to showcase the high-quality and exciting work produced by Individual Dance Artists who have received support from the Arts Council Northern Ireland through their Support the Individual Artist Programme: including the Artist Career Enhancement Scheme, General Award and Major Individual Award.
Dance Resource Base alongside Catalyst curator Eileen McClory has designed this one-day event that will provide the essential opportunity for choreographers to showcase their work in a professional capacity. These new dance works have been created to inspire creativity amongst Northern Ireland and further afield.
Other performances include Ayesha Mailey’s See Me Disappear
and Eileen McClory’s CUCK
. There will also be a sharing of raw materials that have been selected from emerging dance artists who are working on a new piece in order to apply for scratch works in the future.
To conclude the day there will be an On The Floor discussion concerning how a dance artist makes a work and what It takes to make it a success.
Without Catalyst, it is difficult to see how our local dance makers and performers can develop and exhibit their own voice and create works of excellence in the future to be appreciated and valued by its much loved audiences.
