Book & Lyrics by Andrew Doyle
    Music by Duke Special
    Produced By Lyric Theatre

    27 May

The Lyric is thrilled to present a special one-off event allowing audiences a sneak peek at a stunning new musical adaptation of Mark Twain’s seminal American novel The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn composed by celebrated Belfast musician Duke Special with Book and Lyrics by Andrew Doyle.

Huck doesn’t fit in; he’s bored with the quiet life in St Petersburg, Missouri. He longs for a life of adventure, but when he’s kidnapped by his drunken father, he’s thrust into a world of real-life danger. Rescued by Jim, an escaped slave desperate to make a free life for himself and his family, the pair take to the mighty Mississippi River on the journey of a lifetime.

A stirring interpretation of Twain’s classic tale, tackling questions of race, freedom and friendship, this is an exclusive first-look showcase of a magical new version of the tale being developed by the Lyric Theatre. A presentation of the full play and original songs, with Duke Special accompanying on piano.

Presented as part of Lyric50, all proceeds from this event will go towards the future creative work of the theatre’s Literary Department.
