Stage Combat is a necessary and vital discipline in today's film, theatre and media industries. The audience want to be excited and captivated by the action whilst the actors must remain safe. This will be our 6th annual stage combat summer course and it will take place from the 30th July to 4th August. It is suitable for all abilities offering professional qualifications from the APC at basic, intermediate and advanced levels. Fight director, Ian McCracken, returns once again to lead the course and take you through your training, teaching effective illusions of violence in both unarmed and weaponry combat. The training will culminate into a rehearsed fight which will be examined at the end of the week by industry professionals. All previous courses have sold at very quickly so book now to secure your place.
“Last year I took part in the APC stage combat classes organised with The Lyric Theatre. I was a complete beginner. As an actor I wanted to learn some new skills that would help me in my career. I also just loved the idea of being able to play kick ass parts. The week was so much fun. Ian and the crew made it really enjoyable. I think my favourite technique was using the daggers... we were taught how to safely create a fight sequence but make it look threatening and real! I've already recommended the class to a lot of friends and I'll definitely been coming back myself. If you are looking to gain new skills or improve on existing - this is a great week. Intensely fun and challenging in the right ways”
