Enjoy nibbles before taking your seat for Shirley Valentine. We’re taking pre-orders for cheese and charcuterie plates, served with spicy chutney and freshly baked wheaten bread from Yellow Door Bakery, Belfast.
All products have been either made or sourced by local cheese producer, and all round purveyor of excellent food, Michael Thomson of Mike’s Fancy Cheese, Belfast. Find out what’s included:
Young Buck – Northern Ireland’s first raw milk blue cheese. When mature it is rich ,creamy and rounded, like the best ever Stilton, but with a long lingering finish and a just a touch of Northern Ireland. Now stocked by some of the finest restaurants and delis in Ireland and the UK.
Templegall – Made by Hegarty’s Farm in Whitechurch Village in Cork. Templegall is a swiss-style cheese, reminiscent of Gruyere, made from raw milk and matured for at least 9 months, made in large wheels and brushed 3 times a week – a lot of love and attention for a very special cheese! This has a sweet, delicate nutty flavour which goes fantastically with sweet chutney and a wholemeal bread.
Durrus Óg – A semi-soft, rind-ripened cheese, similar to French Reblochon. This is a cheese-lovers cheese – winner of Best Semi-soft Cheese (Artisan CheeseAwards) in 2018 and 2019, winner of Best Irish Cheese (British Cheese Awards) 2017 and winner of 3 Gold Stars (Great Taste Awards, UK) 2016. A small cheese with a big personality.
Ispini Artisan NI Charcuterie – Award winning artisan charcuterie, reared and made in Dungannon, Northern Ireland. Products such as Rosemary and Thyme Bresaola (beef), Molasses and Irish Stout Aged Lomo (pork fillet), Air Dried Coppa (pork neck) with Mace and Allspice, Fennel Salami, Garlic and pepper Saucisson could find their way on to your charcuterie board – depending on availability.
