This is as new as writing gets… A group of teenagers from across NI (ages 14-18) will spend Spring 2022 talking, reading and learning about playwriting, guided by Fighting Words NI dramaturgs and writing mentors.
Each of the writers will create their own short play, and a team of professional theatre artists will help bring these hot-off-the-press scripts to the Lyric stage as rehearsed readings. Never predictable, always fizzing with humour and intelligence, the Young Playwrights showcase is your chance to witness performances crafted by NI’s newest playwrights.
Fighting Words NI
Fighting Words NI is a creative writing centre for children and young people.
Since 2015 we’ve been a force for creativity in Belfast and beyond, providing over 9,000 creative writing opportunities for schools and young writers ages 6-18: that’s hundreds of Storymaking Workshops for classes of all ages, scores of Write Club meetings, and dozens of special projects – all supported by our amazing volunteer mentors. Our patrons are the acclaimed writers Glenn Patterson, Roddy Doyle, Nick Hornby, Lucy Caldwell, Paul Muldoon and Dave Eggers.
