A Playhouse for All : Pride in Action
The Lyric Theatre team were once again delighted to join forces with The MAC and The Grand Opera House and march together at Belfast Pride Parade 2025.
Our theatre community were proud to join the thousands who took to the streets of Belfast on Saturday July 26th 2025 and stood united behind this year's theme, 'No Going Back', a reminder that the fight for dignity, rights, and inclusion is a non-negotiable!
As your ‘Playhouse For all’, at the Lyric, we recognise our responsibility to ensure that every artistic voice finds a platform, every identity sees representation, and every story receives the dignity it deserves.
Rose+Bud: A Celebration of Queer Storytelling
Our Pride 2025 programming included Rose+Bud, a production that exemplifies everything we stand for in supporting new voices, and authentic storytelling.
Developed by Commedia of Errors, and supported through the Lyric's New Playwrights Programme and Scene+Heard initiative, this heartfelt coming-of-age comedy explores themes of self-discovery with both humour and profound emotional depth.
Described as the 'Queer Philadelphia, Here I Come' at Dublin Fringe 2024, Rose+Bud tells the story of finding yourself (or perhaps yourselves) through a brilliant double-act performance.
The production's journey from our development programmes to Dublin Fringe, then to our Naughton Studio for Belfast Pride (24th-26th July), and onwards to Edinburgh Fringe Festival, demonstrates the power of nurturing queer voices from conception to international recognition.
You can see Rose+Bud during the Edinbrugh Fringe Festival at 33 Bunker One at Pleasance Courtyard. The show runs from 30th July to 25th August 2025.
A Theatre That Reflects Belfast’s Community
As part of our commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community, £1 of all our ticket sales in the week running up to Pride were donated to The Trans Resource Centre Belfast. We’re delighted to once again support their work.
We had a fantastic 2025 Pride Parade! We remain committed to ensuring the Lyric reflects the full diversity of Belfast and Northern Ireland.
Our continued participation in Belfast Pride isn't just about showing support; it is about demonstrating our ongoing commitment to being a theatre that truly serves all members of our community.
