Some of the cast of 'Good Vibrations' reunite to play Ulster Hall in a full circle moment for the Musical which tells the story of the Godfather of Punk, Terri Hooley.
Some of the cast of Good Vibrations reunited for a very special performance at Ulster Hall. The event was held to showcase tourism opportunities across Northern Ireland, including what was on offer from Northern Ireland's talented arts and culture sector.
Connor Burnside, Odhrán McNulty, Chris Mohan, Jolene O'Hara, Gavin Peden, Dylan Reid and Katie Richardson performed songs from the 2018 and 2023 Lyric Production of Good Vibrations to an invited audience at The Ulster Hall. The set list included, 'Alternative Ulster' by Stiff Little Fingers, 'In the City' by The Jam and 'Teenage Kicks' by The Undertones.
The performance was punctuated with a special appearance from the Godfather of Punk himself, Terri Hooley.
The Lyric Theatre production of Good Vibrations was based on the 2013 BAFTA nominated film of the same title, written by Colin Carberry and Glenn Patterson. Good Vibrations chronicles the story of Terri Hooley, a radical, rebel, and music-lover in 1970s Belfast. When the Troubles shut down his city and his friends take sides, Terri opens a record shop and becomes the unlikely leader of a motley band of kids who join his mission to create a new community and an alternative Ulster, and bring his hometown back to life.
The musical first premiered to a sold-out run on the Lyric's Main Stage in 2018. The production was then revived in 2023 for a 2-week run at the Grand Opera House, Belfast before a 6 week run in New York's Irish Arts Center. The show played to great reviews in New York, bagging The New York Times Critic's Pick.
