The Lyric has received high praise from some Test Drive the Arts customers. The initiative takes the concept of taking a car for a test drive and applies it to the arts. Research shows that many people who try the arts for the first time will discover how much they enjoy the experience and go on to become attenders. The initiative uses unsold tickets and therefore availability is strictly limited. A range of arts organisations are involved in the initiative, including Belfast Film Festival, Belfast Waterfront, the Grand Opera House, Moving on Music, Queen's Film Theatre, Ulster Hall and Ulster Orchestra with many more to come.
Here’s what some attendees thought of their experience:

I recently heard of Test Drive the Arts through a work colleague. I’d always been curious about the theatre but had never attended. The next day I applied for tickets to Brian Friel’s play in the Lyric the following weekend. 5 minutes after applying I received confirmation of my tickets. Couldn’t believe how easy the whole process was!!! The play we had chosen wasMolly Sweeney. I’d highly recommend this play to anyone. Had a fantastic experience and have now seen two upcoming plays at the Lyric that we are planning on attending in the near future.’
