The Lyric Theatre Belfast is stepping into a bold new chapter with the launch of its refreshed brand identity and redesigned website, marking an exciting milestone for Northern Ireland’s home of great theatre.
Developed in partnership with Crown Creative, the rebrand celebrates the Lyric’s rich heritage while highlighting its ambition to inspire future generations of artists and audiences. The revitalised visual identity reflects the theatre’s role as both a cultural landmark and a hub for creativity.
To bring this new identity to life online, the Lyric teamed up with Eyekiller, who designed and developed a vibrant, user-friendly website. The platform makes it easier than ever to explore upcoming productions, book tickets, and discover the stories behind the theatre.
Jamie Robinson, Founder and Managing Director of Eyekiller, explained the vision behind the project:
“This project was about more than just a website. It was about capturing the Lyric’s spirit and ambition in a digital space. The result is a bold, accessible platform that celebrates the theatre’s creative energy and puts audiences at the heart of the experience.”
The collaboration comes as the Lyric approaches its 75th anniversary, and Claire Murray, Head of Development and Marketing at the theatre, highlighted the significance of this milestone:
“As we approach our 75th anniversary, this collaboration with Crown Creative is more than a design project—it’s a celebration of Belfast’s thriving creative industries. Together, we’re not only refreshing a brand; we’re reimagining what it means to be a cultural institution with global reach, rooted right here in Belfast.”
The team at Crown Creative also reflected on their involvement in shaping the refreshed identity. Creative Director Ryan Crown described the experience as:
“The Lyric is an iconic venue and a true cultural jewel for Belfast. Working with the team to shape its refreshed identity has been a genuinely rewarding experience.”
Lead Designer Kate Tracey shared how the theatre’s distinctive architecture and setting influenced the design:
“The theatre’s striking red brick and riverside setting offered rich inspiration. We wanted the brand to capture that balance while feeling bold and refreshed, positioning the Lyric as a cultural destination for Belfast.”
Together, the refreshed brand and new digital platform mark a significant step forward for the Lyric as it continues to champion outstanding theatre made in and for Northern Ireland. To accompany the launch, the Lyric has also released a short film documenting the rebrand journey.
