The Lyric Theatre is proud to unveil its Autumn/Winter 2025 season, a thrilling and thought-provoking programme that champions bold storytelling, emerging talent, and powerful live experiences.
Running from June to January 2026, the Lyric’s new season brings together an exciting mix of theatre, dance, music, and multidisciplinary performance that reflects the Lyric's continued commitment to cutting-edge programming and community connection.
Highlights include:
Denouement — A Lyric Theatre Production, as part of the Belfast International Arts Festival
Set against an extraordinary apocalyptic backdrop, Denouement by John Morton is a funny, tragic and slightly absurd observation of what remains when everything else is gone. As the world collapses around them, Edel and Liam show the might of the human spirit as they navigate the end of the world with humour, honesty, and decades of shared history.
A Christmas Carol – A Lyric Theatre Production
Back by popular demand! Join us at the Lyric Theatre for a magical return to Victorian Belfast as Marie Jones’ adaptation of A Christmas Carol once again brings festive cheer, unforgettable performances, and a heart-warming family tradition to audiences young and young-at-heart.
The Tunnel - Brassneck Theatre Company
Academy award-winning director Terry George joins forces with Brassneck Theatre Company and Seamus Productions to present the Irish premiere of his thrilling masterpiece, The Tunnel. Heavy construction rattles the political status prison hut. On the other side of the wall, a dreaded new prison complex is being built. ‘Criminalisation’ is on its way for the men behind the wire…A tunnel breakout is planned. Some are escaping to rejoin the war, others want to flee, all are desperate to survive. Are they clawing their way to freedom or digging their own graves?
Rose+Bud – Commedia of Errors
A heartfelt, coming of age comedy about finding yourself, or maybe yourselves.
Derry Freshers’ Week, closeted Bud is in for a rollercoaster of tequila, tiaras and...transitioning. Lucky they have Rose keeping them on the not-so-straight and narrow. This hilarious double-act was described as the ‘Queer Philadelphia, Here I Come’ at Dublin Fringe 2024.
Written by Belfast superstar Rose Coogan (BBC New Comedy Awards), Rose+Bud is part of Pleasance Theatre’s Edinburgh National Partnerships and is supported by the Lyric Theatre. It returns to the Naughton Stage before a highly anticipated run at Edinburgh Fringe 2025.
In the Name of the Son – Green Shoot Productions
This gripping, emotional story about Gerry Conlon charts his extraordinary journey after his release from global recognition and celebrity circles to addiction and desperation on the streets of London. It returns to the Lyric having stunned audiences in packed houses across Northern Ireland, at the Edinburgh Fringe and New Zealand.
Gilly Campbell, Director of Arts Development, Arts Council of Northern Ireland commented:
“The Arts Council of Northern Ireland, as principal funder, is proud to support the Lyric Theatre’s exciting autumn/winter 2025 season as it continues to innovate, supporting exceptional new writing from home-grown talent and providing audiences with unforgettable live theatre experiences.”
