Stephen Sondheim Remembered

We join with theatres everywhere in mourning the loss of Stephen Sondheim, legendary composer and lyricist, and master of musical theatre.
He leaves a lasting legacy, and we thank him for his music and the inspiring light he shone for so many of us.
We were proud to stage his music, most recently the musical revue Putting it Together in 2015 starring Fra Fee, and Sweeney Todd our co-production with NI Opera in 2019 starring Julie Mullins. The Lyric also produced A Little Night Music back in 1977, starring a young Liam Neeson as Bertrand.
We are delighted we can continue to pay tribute to his work, with the announcement this morning of Into the Woods, by NI Opera, which will be staged at the Lyric next February 2022.
