After a sell-out week at the Lyric Theatre with The Gruffalo's Child, another popular story by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler is set to enchant a new generation of theatre-goers. Room on the Broom, a spell-binding adventure about a cat and a witch, is the magical musical treat this summer for adults and kids alike.
And the Lyric's theatrical feast for children continues with one of the most popular fairy-tales of all time, Cinderella – this year’s much-anticipated Christmas show.
Tall Stories, the theatre company behind The Gruffalo, bring their new show Room on the Broom to the Lyric from 30 July to 4 August direct from a smash-hit West End season.
The witch and her cat are flying happily along on their broomstick when a stormy wind blows the witch’s hat, bow and wand away into the night.
With the help of a daft dog, a beautiful bird and a friendly frog, her belongings are retrieved. But this broomstick’s not meant for five and – CRACK – it snaps in two! When a hungry dragon appears, who will save the poor witch? And will there ever be room on the broom for everyone?
It may be six months away but tickets are now on sale for the Christmas show Cinderella and this month schools can take advantage of a special discount price of £7.50 if booked by midnight 30 June 2013, £8 from 1 July 2013.
With special family tickets and group discounts available, Cinderella and her rather ugly sisters look forward to welcoming you to the Lyric for this festive treat.
Richard Croxford, Lyric Artistic Director said: “It is wonderful to see the Lyric packed with children enjoying the theatre as much as our older audiences. Tall Stories have brought some magical shows to the Danske Bank Stage and I’m sure Room on the Broom will be another hit with families. So get your tickets quick before you miss the ride!”
