Blunt Fringe Productions return to the Lyric Theatre after their very successful 'Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris'last year with Jason Robert Brown's 'The Last Five Years'.
‘The Last Five Years’ by Jason Robert Brown is a beautiful, emotionally powerful musical about Jamie, a talented up and coming novelist who falls in love with Cathy, a struggling actress and takes place over a five year period. Their story is told entirely through songs but with a clever device; all of Cathy’s songs begin at the end of their marriage and move backwards in time while Jamie’s songs start at the beginning of their affair and move forward to the end of their marriage. They physically meet on stage only once, at their wedding.
The show opened off-Broadway in 2002 and that year won the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Music and Lyrics. A film adaptation starring Oscar nominated Anna Kendrick and Jeremy Jordan was released in the US in February 2015, with rumours of a UK release before the summer.
Starring Fra Fee (Les Miserables, Follies, Candide, Dirty Dancing) and Amy Lennox (recently announced as female lead in Kinky Boots, and played Doralee in 9To5 UK tour last year).
Directed by Stephen Whitson (currently Associate Director for Cameron Mackintosh’s production of Barnum).
