Award-Winning Building
Our award-winning building, designed by O’Donnell + Tuomey, is a landmark cultural project that seamlessly integrates into its urban and natural surroundings.
Completed in 2011 our bold yet enduring design was crafted in brick, timber, and stone. Sitting at the junction of Belfast’s brick streets and the River Lagan’s parkland, the theatre balances solid performance spaces with flowing, light-filled social areas. Its auditorium, studio, and rehearsal rooms are carefully tailored for intimacy, flexibility, and acoustic excellence.
Sustainability
The environmental impact of the theatre is broad – public buildings use energy; audiences, staff and artists have to travel; and the numerous operations that the theatre needs, all add to our carbon footprint. With the support of the Theatre Green Book, we have made a commitment to 'green' our own practices and operations, reduce our impact on the environment and create a more sustainable future.
