Libby Smyth (Huntley)
Libby began her career in Dublin when she was a student at Trinity College. She took part in many theatrical productions as a student and was spotted by a producer from R.T.E who offered her the opportunity to front a magazine programme for television. Soon, however, the acting bug became too great and, when offered a season in the Lyric Theatre, she returned to Belfast. Since then she has appeared in over 40 productions in various theatres both north and south.
In 1981, Libby appeared in the first ever 6 part comedy series based and shot here in Northern Ireland along with Ian McIlhinney and Marie Jones. She also worked with BBC NI on a part-time basis fronting a children’s education series, One Potato, Two Potato, which ran for 25 years.
Recently, Libby has appeared in an award-winning, much acclaimed one-woman show about the life of Ruby Murray. Having already completed 2 sell-out tours of this play, she is hoping to take “Ruby” to England in 2022.
