About Creative Learning
What is Creative Learning?
At the Lyric Theatre, Creative Learning is all about transforming lives through the power of drama.
We work with people of all ages and backgrounds, helping them build confidence, develop teamwork skills, and unlock their creativity.
Inclusivity and fun are at the heart of everything we do — because we believe theatre isn’t just an art form, it’s a life-changing experience.
Our Vision
We’re future-focused. We know that theatre can break down barriers, spark imagination, and inspire people to see the world — and themselves — in new ways.
From first-time performers to aspiring professionals, from community groups to school classrooms, our goal is simple: to open the door to creativity for everyone.
Theatre School & Drama Studio
Our in-house programmes provide weekly classes, summer workshops, and professional training for young people aged 5–26.
Theatre School - Weekly term-time classes for ages 5–18, taught by theatre professionals and inclusive of SEN students.
Summer School - Week-long creative intensives including stage combat, physical theatre, and design.
Drama Studio - A flagship 14-week training course for aspiring actors aged 18–26, with alumni progressing to major drama schools and professional careers.
Work with Schools
We work with schools across Northern Ireland, offering free or subsidised workshops, technical training, and creative opportunities that nurture essential life skills.
Workshops & Work Experience - From operating lighting and sound to exploring backstage roles, our school programmes offer hands-on learning.
Theatre School on the Road - Bringing drama workshops to schools in disadvantaged areas, completely free of charge.

Affiliated Schools Scheme - Over 30 partner schools receive subsidised workshops, resource packs, and free tickets to inspire the next generation of theatre-makers.
Community Outreach
We’re proud to work with community groups of all sizes, building lasting partnerships that make theatre accessible to everyone.
Rogue Encounters - Inclusive physical theatre with people of all abilities, including those with brain injuries, disabilities, or health conditions. Our 13-year partnership includes an annual 18-week programme culminating in a public showcase.
Hydebank Collaboration - Over 13 years of creative projects, including Blackout, a touring production aimed at reducing crime and antisocial behaviour among young people.
Workshops & Tours - We host engaging, hands-on workshops for groups such as Depaul Family Services and UCT’s Nurturing Hope project.
Lyric Community Events - Free seasonal events like our Halloween and Christmas Community Days, often in partnership with groups like the Chinese Welfare Association.

We collaborate with leading theatre companies to inspire and connect emerging talent with the wider arts industry.
