“This show where a woman plays a chicken who thinks he’s an Irishman is unlike anything you’ve ever seen” Playbill Must See
Don Murphy is a proud Irish man, a hopeless ketamine addict and one of his generation’s greatest actors.
He also happens to be a chicken. A Kerry cock to be precise. Across one fateful night, the feathered Oscar winner shares his star-studded story with an intimate audience - from getting his big break, to his first bird on bird sexual experience, to navigating life in the (human-dominated) celebrity spotlight. But along the way Don will be confronted with some harsh truths about himself, chicken kind and humankind.
Sell out run at the Edinburgh Fringe 2023. Winner of Filipa Bragança award for best Female identifying solo performer at the Edinburgh Fringe 2023 and the Lustrum Award 2023.

“For all of Chicken’s comedic charm, O’Connor’s writing never loses its quiet resolve, staying as sharp as a wishbone, with just the same potential to catch in the throat.”
“Clucking clever stuff”
“O'Connor's performance is mesmerising, with plenty of laughs punctuating this otherwise unsettling tale of exploitation, self-loathing and sacrifice”
“A feathered friend trying to make it big in what’s quite literally a human-eat-bird world, this is a slick and imaginative play which sends up celebrity brilliantly”
