Over the past 65 years, the Lyric has established itself as Northern Ireland’s leading producing theatre, premiering the works of playwrights such as Stewart Parker, Martin Lynch, David Ireland, Marie Jones and Christina Reid. Actors including Liam Neeson, Adrian Dunbar and Ciarán Hinds all got their first big breaks on the Lyric stage. The Lyric works with local writers, directors, actors and creative teams to deliver amazing theatre for local audiences and visitors to the city. The Lyric’s theatre on the banks of the River Lagan which opened in May 2011 is a cultural hub for local creative talent, a landmark visitor destination, and a popular daytime space for meetings and lunches, as well as attracting over 80,000 theatregoers through its doors every year.
