We are delighted to announce the opening of a new creative post at the Lyric - Scenic Construction Manager - which aims to make the Lyric more resilient for the future, to improve our environmental sustainability practices, and to continue to support the wider sector by creating employment.
It is another step in the right direction for the Lyric, as we aim towards reducing and offsetting our carbon emissions through various green initiatives throughout our building and our operations.
Adrian Mullan, Head of Production, said:
“We are very excited to find the right person who will lead on scenic construction for the Lyric Theatre productions. Scenic construction is not only an integral part of the creative process, but it also represents one of the most significant areas of cost and potential for waste. The Lyric is committed to minimising the adverse environmental effects caused as a result of what we do. We are ambitious in setting ourselves green targets across the organisation and want to ensure that we take every advantage to reduce the use of raw materials in our sets, and every opportunity to reuse materials where possible.”
This news follows the announcement last month of vital funding the Lyric received from the Theatres Trust and the Wolfson Foundation to upgrade their in-house Building Management System, which will make a significant difference to the theatre’s environmental impact.
