Theatre School On The road
‘Theatre School on the Road’ is an outreach program we run twice a year to schools located in disadvantaged areas in and round Belfast, many of which are part of the Goliath Trust schools. The project runs for four consecutive weeks across both the summer and winter school terms, with classes aimed at building children's confidence, imagination and teamwork skills. These workshops are completely free and often run as an afterschool club to allow for as high an attendance as possible. The relationship with these schools has been ongoing for many years, with some schools having been involved since the program started. This relationship leads directly into our bursary program, where we offer fully funded places including travel and catering available across our summer Theatre School schemes.
"As a school, we have a valued partnership with the Lyric Theatre. Recently, Mimi and Shannen have taken drama workshops with my P7 class. The energy and enthusiasm is contagious throughout the entire workshop! The trust that they build and relationships that they nurture with the pupils ensures that the children have a chance to shine within a very relaxed, non-pressurised environment. The children love every minute of it, and I love seeing their creativity which I can use in my future lessons!" - Hannah Barnes, teacher, Botanic Primary School, 2025.
