Francis and Loretta, community care workers struggling to make ends meet, dream of a better life.
One of their elderly charges, Davey, is a man of simple means. His life consists of cherished memories of singing along with Frank Sinatra and a series of misfortunes. Despite his limited resources, Davey always bet on the horses, rarely winning more than a few quid when his luckiest pick didn't come in last place. But one day, Davey's luck changed dramatically, transforming him from a penniless pensioner into a wealthy man overnight.
Unbeknownst to Davey, he has won a significant amount of money on the horses. When Francis and Loretta discover his windfall and learn that he will be away for an extended period, they are faced with a tantalising dilemma.
Marie Jones is the author of some of the most successful plays ever produced including Stones In His Pockets, Women On The Verge Of HRT, and A Night in November. This hilarious comedy investigates whether we are valued more in life or in death.
