Saturday 9th March, the cast of our upcoming Drama Studio production of Radium Girls came together for their first read through and full production presentation.
These young actors are part of our Lyric Theatre Drama Studio, a 14-week course preparing 18 - 26-year-olds for work in a professional theatre, receiving one to one advice and expert career guidance.
At the end of the course, students are invited to audition for the summer Drama Studio production at the Lyric. This year, they will be performing ‘Radium Girls’; D.W. Gregory's gripping drama based on the true story of female labourers who were poisoned by their factory's radium-based paint.
Following the sell-out success and audience demand for last year's Drama Studio production of ‘Anne Boleyn’, we are delighted to be hosting a two-week run of ‘Radium Girls’, an extension of the one-week run of previous Drama Studio productions. Audiences of Anne Boleyn may notice the familiar faces of returning students to the course!
Radium Girls fiercely examines the commercialisation of science, the pursuit of health and wealth, the power of the underdog and the injustice labourers have faced, both in the past and the present. See these exceptionally talented young actors bring the story to life in the Naughton Studio from 21st May to 1st June. Book tickets now: Radium Girls
With no accredited actor training programme in Northern Ireland, Drama Studio helps bridge a gap for young people (18+) wishing to pursue a career in acting, providing them 14 weeks training with our team at the Lyric and visiting tutors, including those from Drama Schools and training institutes from across the UK and Ireland.
